Description

Do your students have what it takes to win the stock market competition?

The trading floor. A fast-paced and buzzing environment where quick-thinking and clever tactics could lead to you gaining or losing millions of pounds in a matter of seconds.

Now celebrating its 5th anniversary, the ICMA Centre's Stock Market Competition is open to year 12 students, in particular those studying maths, economics, business or finance, who would like the chance to experience the practical application of these subjects in the high-octane environment of stock market trading.

How does it work?

Students team up in pairs and compete against each other by trading on a simulated stock market. The competition uses the ICMA Centre's famous dealing room facilities supported by Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg, which feature the latest trading technology.

At the end of the competition, students will have applied their current knowledge of subjects such as maths, business and economics to the high-speed world of international trading and develop a familiarity with the language of financial markets.

Each school can register up to 5 teams. Each team should be made up of two students. (Please enter the total number of students attending the competition ex. 10 students, 5 teams)

Last year's competition

The Stock Market Challenge 2015 was a huge success and saw almost 100 students compete against eachother to take the title of trading champion. In the end it was year 12 students Greg Dean and Nischal Timalsina (pictured) from Bulmershe School that were crowned victorious.

“I was incredibly impressed with the students’ enthusiasm and ability to pick up complex ideas so rapidly," commented Robert Russell, who's company Divento Financials sponsored the competition, "The Stock Market Competition gives young people an exciting and realistic experience, and encourages more finance enthusiasts into future careers in the industry.”
